Keeping you informed
At Doebbert Law Offices, we understand how busy you are. We also want to keep you informed about developments in your case. And, we want to keep our representation affordable. We have found that the use of e-mail can greatly enhance the speed and quality of attorney-client communications.

Uses for E-mail
In our experience, e-mail can be a very effective tool for conducting legal work over a distance. Indeed, some courts require electronic filing, and strongly encourage the use of e-mail. Using software such as Adobe Acrobat, original documents can delivered to clients, government agencies, and other attorneys for review and signature in minutes rather than days. This works especially well for real estate transactions. Drafts can be sent and return comments received in real time. The need for attorney conference time can be minimized. That means that you can save both time and money.

About Adobe Reader
Formerly known as Adobe Acrobat Reader, now known as Adobe Reader this program allows the transmission of documents in image form, so that they cannot be inadvertently altered. The end product is much like a fax, but without the coding, and having the same quality as the original document. These documents can be read with Adobe Reader, a software which can be downloaded for free from www.adobe.com.

What about security?
Lawyers communications with clients are confidential, and it is a violation of the rules of ethics governing the conduct of lawyers to use an unapproved form of communication. On January 22, 1999, the Minnesota Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board issued a formal opinion approving the transmission and reception of confidential attorney-client communications via e-mail without encryption. To read the opinion go to http://www.courts.state.mn.us/lprb/opinions.html and view opinion 19. For particularly sensitive information, we can also arrange to encrypt communications.

Other forms of communications
You don't rely entirely on e-mail and neither do we. Our receptionist is almost always available to assist you. We also utilize state of the art voice messaging and call forwarding to our cell phones so that we can be reached during business hours even if we are out of the office. And of course, we use faxes and U.S. mail, as well as overnight services whenever appropriate.
